Showing Off Ltd was founded over five years ago to fill a niche in the local marketplace. Our aim was to give small businesses access to the same quality of marketing advice available to larger companies, at a price they could afford.
In those five years I've learned some valuable lessons:
01I couldn't help everyone I wanted to, because I couldn't find more than 24 hours in a day
02I can help more people through training and, working with several people together gives small businesses access to marketing consultancy they perhaps couldn't otherwise afford
03Through my personal development I've developed a wider understanding of business and can now help companies at a much deeper level; putting marketing in the context of costs and returns
04The people I've met have enabled me to create an enviable network of contacts across the North West; many of whom are experts in their field.
Another important piece of that background was a business start-up course I attended when I first set up. In the first hour, we were told that we didn't need a company name and that we could trade off our own names, because none of us would be doing any business outside of our home towns anyway.
That angered me - and on that day, I knew small businesses deserved better and that I would be part of the solution.
So...
In April 2008, we launched Showing Off Academy with the aim of teaching people how to make money. Our first programme is a business training course, which helps fast-track businesses to achieve the next level in their development.
Did you start your own company to get control of your life, but feel you haven't quite achieved it? I've been there and I almost considered going back to the easy life and getting a job. But then I started reading my business books again and spending time around successful people; many of whom are millionaires. I now understand the secrets of success and am implementing them in my own businesses - but I want to share them with other companies who are serious about creating a profitable business - and a better life - too.
We also want to help people who aren't business owners and have started working on some 'wealth' classes. These will teach the basics of making money - and keeping it - helping people take more control of their lives and build a secure future for themselves and their families.
